Show and Tell... When I was 17

I thought it would be fun to link up with From Mrs. to Mama for Show and Tell Monday.  And I thought it would be funny since 17 was just 5 years ago.  Okay, so I didn't think it was that long ago until I just typed that. Crazy.

1. When you were 17, tell us what kind of car you drove, where you worked, and what you were usually up to on the weekends.
When I was 16 I got a midnight blue Pontiac G5.  I still drive it.  It's a nice little car except I HATE that it only has two doors... and that when I pass any other vehicle other than a little car the lights blind me.  I worked (and still work there during the summer) at a local ice cream place.  It used to be Dairy Queen, but now it is locally owned and has a new name.  It is yummy!
On the weekends I hung out with friends in the local Pizza King parking lot.  Now I see high school kids there and think wow I can't believe I was one of them.

2. Show us a picture of you when you were 17 {roughly}.

This was when I was almost 17. My first prom.  This is one of my favorite pictures from prom that year.

3. When you were 17, tell us what you wanted to be when you "grew up."
I am actually going to school now for what I wanted to be at 17, a business major.  I feel like it is broad that I will be able to find a job. Fingers crossed.

4. When you were 17, tell us the kind of boys that you dated. Did you have a type? Do you have a relationship you remember well? Tell us about it.
When I was 17, I was going out with the person I am still with today.  Never did I think we would have been together for a year (it was 1 year on my 17th birthday) much like 5+ years and potentially the rest of our lives.  He is opposite of everything I would have ever imagined, but I sit here looking at old pictures and am just smiling because I could not be happier.

5. When you were 17, tell us where you pictured your life 10 years from then. Did it turn out the way you expected it to?
I pictured myself rocking the business world in stilettos.  Possibly living in the city, but knowing I was a small town girl at heart.  I pictured myself married and having a family.
I guess we will find out how it turned out in 6 years ;)

Guys... Sweet or Greedy

The other day in one of my classes we had a quiz and I knew I didn't do well on it.  Well I got out of class, turned on my phone, and had this text from my bestie.  It made my day.

*where it says "abs" it should be "and"

Honestly, best text ever.  I saved it on my phone for when I'm having a bad day so I can have a giggle.  Have a good day!

TGIF

I am sooooo glad it is Friday.  This weekend I do not have one.single.thing.planned. This is really rare.  I hope I'm not forgetting to do something :/

I plan on going into work for awhile and besides that I'm just going to hang with the boy. Oh, and sleep in.  I need some sleep.

I am the marketing director for my office and am working on a Christmas postcard.  Here is a sneak peek. {Ignore that the lines aren't even.  On the actual card it is cut off even}  My favorite detail is our logo as the ornaments on the tree.

Less than three months until Christmas! Yay!  I love wrapping gifts and gifting people so in the weeks to come look for lots of gift ideas and unique ways to wrap presents.

Have a fabulous weekend!

My Week Without Facebook

As I mentioned last week was my sorority recruitment and during that week they asked us to deactivate all social media (except Pinterest could stay... yay to my 87 new pins since I couldn't be on facebook!)

I went a week without Facebook. I know that should not seem like an accomplishment, but it was. And it marked off one thing off of my 101 in 1001!

The first day was the worst.  I rode in the semi with the boy and while we were waiting it is habit to get on Facebook on my phone and every time I clicked it, it asked for my log in info and I couldn't do it.  The 2nd and 3rd day I clicked a few times, but by the end of the week I didn't think about it.

And when I could finally get on... there was nothing exciting. I didn't miss a single thing (except my besties cousin had a baby, but my bestie had sent me a pic and shes adorable!)

Then now as I've been on for 72 hours, there is still nothing new on facebook.  But I am still constantly checking it.

A week without Facebook was a good reality check.  I feel like in today's society people, including myself, rely to much on technology.  It was a nice break to not have it and just live my life and not read the posts and drama facebook has.  Take the challenge to go a week without Facebook, have a real connection and relationship with yourself.

Have a good day!

101 in 1001 Update

I haven't paid much attention to my 101 in 1001 list, but I updated it.  I'm pretty sure I have accomplished a few other things too, but I have time so I am going to start working towards accomplishing those things now.  I WILL complete the 101 items before the date.  I am determined :)

Do you have a 101 in 1001?  It makes me excited to think that when my 1001 is over, July 14, 2014, I will {hopefully} have a big girl job and have proudly accomplished one of the items on my list, get my bachelor's degree.  Oh, I cannot wait until that day!!!  It will also be the day before I turn 24. Crazy.

I am going to be better about working to accomplish all of my items on my list.  They should lead me to some fun and once in a lifetime memories.  Stay tuned here and the link is on the bar above my post :)

Baby Pearls

Last week was sorority recruitment and my chapter got 31 new amazing young women aka baby pearls and I could not be more excited.

Pearls never stop developing and grow one layer at a time as they experience new things.  (yah we are that awesome that is one of our symbols)

Last year we did not reach the quota we had anticipated so when I walked in the suite (we don't have a house because our campus is so small) my mouth hit the floor when I heard we had so many girls.  (That was over a third of the girls that accepted there bids!)

We made more signs and stood across the street watching as girls went to the chapel to accept their bids.  It is such an exciting moment, I'm still excited just thinking about it :)

Our theme was Disney Princess and the posters were super adorable.  Where the star is the girl could put her head there and take a picture.
It says... "B... Lived happily ever after in Delta Delta Delta"

After pictures we serenaded and then went to an alumna's house and had a cook out.  And even though Indiana weather decided that Sunday should be FREEZING we still had an amazing time creating new friendships.

If you are part of a sorority, you will probably understand how amazing bid day is.  If you aren't involved in Greek life you may not understand, but it is an amazing feeling to gain so many amazing new women into our sisterhood.
